How to Experiment with Fashion But Still Maintain Your Personal Style

Balance is key. Achieving a personal style that is bold, yet self-expressive can be a little challenging the in the world of fashionistas. How does your fashion style speak for you? Does it express your personality or is it on the road to mediocre trends like everyone else?

I know, so many questions, and so little time in this world of fashion. But truly, fashion doesn’t have to be complicated; it just has to be you. But how do you find that in between? How do you stay true to your personal style, but try a daring style? Well, you can consider a few tips that might help:

Stay True To You.

Always dress within your comfort zone, because if you don’t feel comfortable in something, you won’t be able to pull it off. Honestly. If you’re going to wear something, wear it with confidence and poise. Wear it like you own it! (umm cause you do, and it’s worth every penny)

Don’t Forget Your Values.

This is also related to staying true to yourself (but I think it deserves its own subtitle ‘cause it’s a whole other category on its own). Being bold isn’t always about wearing a V-neck, red lips or a middy skirt, (not saying that in a negative tone either) simply it all goes back to your comfort. If what you wear expresses your personality, than make it speak for itself.

Know Your Weak Spots.

Learn your body, and learn to love it! There can never be a more beautiful you. When talking about weak spots, it doesn’t mean negatively, but more so awareness. Simply be aware of clothing items that will make you feel more comfortable, flattering and beautiful. There are ranges of styles to pick from these days and if you have a “weak” spot, minimize the focus with a clothing item that will complement another part of your body. Make sure there is balance and consistency.

Add a Statement Piece

This is really important. The statement piece will be the first thing someone sees when looking at you. The statement piece is the eye-catcher. And you don’t have to be limited- it could be anything! From a purse, contrast shoes, hairpiece, scarf, chocker, bright nails, earrings, watch, belt or tights. Or if you have a dramatic statement piece like a studded jacket or parka, neutralize everything else to make that piece pop! That statement piece has to speak for its self, and it has to be you

Experiment With Colors and Patterns

Now this doesn’t always mean you should walk around wearing super bright colors or match everything perfectly, you can mix it up. Try matching a clothing item with the same color shoes, jacket, top and bottom- but with slightly different shades of the same color. Or mix patterns that complement each other. This can be challenging to do at first, but look into your closet and find out what you can mix and match that are the slightly the same color and pattern. You’ll be surprised what you find. I personally love mixing shades of nudes together. I call it, fifty shades of nude. Olivia Palermo is always on point.

Don’t Over Do It

I know fashion doesn’t have too many restrictions these days, but you still want to keep it fresh and chic. Remember balance is key. Balance out your outfit and accessorize so that you don’t look out of proportion. But how do you still look bold? Well, as mentioned above, there are ways to help with that. Don’t try to overwhelm your look.
